Earth Waking

Psalm 5:3
The pale cold morning arrives--
The orange-yellow sun rising through
Bare winter trees.
Life stirs, though all remains quiet.
What will the day bring?

Coffee steam dances--
The smell quickens my senses
As I zip my sweatshirt.
God's promises come like a
Flock of birds singing.

A smile traces--
A Scripture verse calls in
The stillness of air.
And the notes from an old
Hymn frame my consciousness.

"In the morning, O LORD,
You hear my voice;
In the morning I lay my requests
Before you and wait in
Expectation." (Ps. 5:3)

This creation sings--
And the melody of light chases
The darkness.
Great is Thy Faithfulness,
Lord unto me.
